Julian Merrell Mims was born in Los Angeles California in 1979, the eldest son of Anthony Ronald Mims, a college football coach, and Virginia Mims, an elementary school teacher.

He, his mother, and three siblings moved frequently as his father’s work took them to Las Vegas, Indiana, and to San Diego where he received much of his elementary and secondary education. Moving often sometimes created a lonely existence, however, his parents encouraged his imagination and creativity from a very young age. He often created imaginary worlds and scenarios with his older sister Sylvia and younger brothers Aaron and Anthony.

He credits his creativity to his upbringing with supportive parents who afforded him eclectic exposure to literature and film from an early age.

While in San Diego he attended Myron B. Green Elementary School where he holds fond memories of activities that fueled his imagination and nurtured his creativity as a child. At Scripps Ranch High School, he excelled as a leader in Varsity Football. After his father relocated for work his family moved upstate to Monterrey, California where Julian attended Seaside High School, in his junior and senior years he continued to play football and he excelled in poetry and the literary arts. After he completed high school, he moved back to Los Angeles for college.

Julian obtained a Bachelor of Science in Parks, Leisure, and Recreation Management from California State University Northridge while on a football scholarship. It was shortly after where the economy went into a recession and Julian found work in personal protection as a bodyguard to celebrities and security in upscale nightclubs in Los Angeles. He also worked coaching high school football and worked with children who have special needs, as well as a trainer at local gyms. It was during this time that he began to focus his creativity and cultivate some of his ideas into scriptwriting.

In 2012 Julian accepted the call to ministry as a Pastor. Julian has a heart for people and believes in equipping saints to fight this war we were conscripted into as believers in Jesus Christ. He currently leads an online ministry with bible taught messages weekly.

Julian met Tina Bethel a medical doctor in Nassau, The Bahamas on a dating app in 2013. The two were married in 2015 and Julian relocated to the sunny isles of The Bahamas where they built a home together. He began work managing and operating their vacation rental business and he also became a certified massage therapist. It was there in The Bahamas that he completed his first novel, “Sandy Black and The Seven Giants”, an epic fairytale with set in an extraordinary new world of magic and wonder. He and his wife live together in Nassau with their two dogs, Lycan and Shula.
